There’s been much speculation over the past few weeks that Kate Middleton was pregnant with royal baby number two, but it has been vehemently denied and denied—until today. This morning the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge published an official announcement telling the world of the upcoming birth of their second child. Unfortunately for the Duchess, horrible bouts of morning sickness are a telltale sign of another prince or princess on the way, and the morning announcement went on to inform the public that Her Royal Highness would be “treated by doctors at Kensington Palace.” While it seems she’s not yet at the 12 week mark, speculation has arisen over the due date, which is estimated to be next spring.
“She’s feeling okay, thanks. It’s been a tricky few days –a week or so—but obviously we’re basically thrilled. It’s great news, early days,” Prince William told reporters during a visit to Oxford University today. The couple’s first child, Prince George, was born just over a year ago on July 22, 2013 and is third in line to the English throne. With the birth of a little sister or brother, the royal line will be moved just a bit, making the new baby fourth in line to the throne and Prince Harry fifth. Bets are already being placed in England on the sex and name of the next royal, with a baby girl named Elizabeth being the favorite. Either way we’re excited to see the growth of the royal family and wish all the best for William and Kate.
